Bunker Renovation Update
July: Strong Progress Continues
The bunker renovation project has made excellent progress over the past month, with several key milestones achieved and valuable insights gained as construction continues.
The project began with the successful completion of the North chipping bunker, followed by the bunkers on holes 4, 6 and 7. Since then, the team has completed all bunkers on holes 3 and 5, with work on hole 4 well underway. We are currently at 16% completion of the entire project, with approximately 55% of the North Course complete.

One of the most significant highlights came following a six-inch rainfall in early July, which provided a real-world demonstration of the effectiveness of the Better Billy Bunker construction system. The newly renovated bunkers required virtually no repairs and experienced almost no sand movement, while existing bunkers across the golf course required considerable work to restore them to playable condition. The performance reinforced the long-term benefits of the new drainage and construction methods being implemented throughout the project.
As construction has progressed, the team has continued to improve efficiency and momentum. Many of the completed bunkers have also been restored closer to their original size, incorporating Dr. Michael Hurdzan's design influence while enhancing both aesthetics and playability.
Despite weather challenges, progress remains on track. While approximately four productive work days have been lost to rain or extreme heat, the overall project is currently about 16% complete and remains on schedule and on budget.
When we complete the far end of the North Course, we will start on holes 1, 2, 8 and 9 before advancing to the remaining holes. At this phase, we will stage some of the required materials in the North parking lot.
Daily updates continue to be posted in the OHGC app under Course Conditions, with push notifications sent whenever work is underway on greenside bunkers to help keep members informed.
